Cleaning cat urine
Cats can sometimes be so messy but nothing is worse than your new kitten or cat peeing all over the house. Rubbing the stain with a cloth will just make it worse and let the odour sink in more. Here are some tips on how to solve this issue.
Use an enzymatic cleaner for your cat urine
Uric acid has a very distinct and strong odour, it is not water soluble and will respond with water-based clean-up methods. The enzymes in an enzymatic cleaner break down the acid of the urine and remove the smell. Soak the cleaner into the stain for at least 10-15 minutes.
Do not use the enzymatic solution on leather furniture, it will not work.
Alternate to enzymatic cleaner
Sprinkle baking soda onto the stain for at least five minutes. Then in a separate container, mix equal parts water and white vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray the affected area and then wait for 5 minutes. Blot the stain with a paper towel to dry and remove excess. This will remove the terrible odour and also clean the area.
